Team

Our people make it all happen! Each one of our experienced team members bring their own unique skill set and experience to the table. Our core team works year round to plan and manage the events we produce. During event set-up and production, our crew can grow up to 40 workers to ensure each and every event managed properly and is delivered to the highest standard.

Scott Gurney

Executive Director

Since the age of 16, Scott has been a part of the hospitality industry. Working his way through the ranks of corporate restaurants, chain hotels, local bars, live music venues, and finally starting 17 Black Events in 2010. He has a true passion for bringing ideas to life, and taking on challenges that others won’t. Scott loves bringing people together, cultivating meaningful relationships with all stakeholders, and building “the crew” that make our events happen. Outside of work, he shares his passion for live music, exceptional food and the great outdoors with his family and friends.

Amy Pecorelli

Event Manager & Administrative Services

Amy has worked in the events industry for more than 20 years, and throughout her career has managed all styles of events, including: large multi-day conferences, awards galas, fundraisers, concerts, celebrations of life, sporting events and large scale food and beverage festivals. While she enjoys planning any style of event, her passion lies with large conferences, intimate luxury events and boutique size travel groups where she can provide full turn-key service for her clients. When she is not working you can find her spending time with her family and friends, seeking out the sun, and working on life’s next adventure.

Brittany Davies

Event Manager

Brittany Davies is an experienced event professional - and exceptional barista - with a background in skills-based training and education, living and working on the traditional territory of the Lək̓ʷəŋən-speaking peoples - the Songhees and Esquimalt First Nations. With a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature, a Bachelor of Education, and over 15 years in the food and beverage industry (including 7 in specialty coffee), Brittany brings a unique lens to the events she works on. Paired with considerable experience as a volunteer coordinator for large-scale festivals like Rifflandia, Tall Tree, and Victoria Beer Week, she can balance building and fostering relationships while also being ruthlessly efficient. She cares deeply about making event spaces more safe, more equitable, and more accessible. When she’s not sending emails and making heart-eyes at AirTable, you are likely to find her wearing black and denim, drinking natural wine, rolling d20s, reading a good book, and sharing food with others. 

Adam Duron

Operations Manager

Adam has been in the professional live events industry for more than 15 years, and has a true passion for bringing festivals and events to life for people of all ages to enjoy. During his ten years with Atomique Productions, Adam oversaw operations management on a variety of large-scale events and festivals with attendances up to 75,000 people per day including Rifflandia, Rock the Shores, Victoria Celebrates Canada Day, and The Phillips Backyard Weekender. He was also the site manager of Squamish Valley Music Festival’s main stage. His expertise includes the planning, logistics, management of onsite crew and volunteers, and establishing relationships and ongoing communication with event suppliers, vendors, and sponsors. 

Maddie Woodley

Social Media & Digital Marketing

Maddie has been involved in the events and restaurant industry since she was 16 years old and is a graduate of Vancouver Island University’s Hospitality Management Program. Maddie has worked with city organizations for their “Downtown Improvement Area” programs, and has been instrumental in planning and promoting large-scale civic events for her community. With 17 Black Events, she has found her stride in the world of social media and marketing and on site event work. One of Maddie's biggest passions is her Instagram account under the name of "That Hoppy Girl," where she has partnered with many local craft breweries and restaurants to promote small businesses in communities around BC. Maddie loves being a part of such an amazing team of people, and being involved in planning events that bring so much happiness to the community. 

Gina Pecorelli

Fostering relationships and creating mutually beneficial partnerships is the foundation of Gina’s role at 17 Black Events. Having worked in the community relations departments of organizations such as Telus and the United Way, Gina has a keen sense of what partnerships truly mean. Delivering exceptional customer service, providing meticulous communications and bringing forward fresh and inventive ideas to our partners, are only a few things that Gina loves about her job. Travel, wine and gardening are among Gina’s passions, and are enjoyed best with family and friends.
